About the Role

The University of Southern California is seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst II to join its team in the Keck School of Medicine.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, organizing, and completing strategic and complex projects of a financial or business nature. This will involve identifying and extracting data, evaluating, interpreting, analyzing, and summarizing findings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Produce regular and ad-hoc financial and operating reports, evaluating and analyzing reports and data, and developing conclusions and recommendations for management.
  • Financial Operations Monitoring: Monitor financial operations for a large operating area of the school and/or significant financial activity, identifying problems or trends and evaluating solutions.
  • Financial Systems Development: Review existing accounting, reporting, and data management systems and methods for adequacy, contributing to the development and/or modification of financial systems and applications to enhance reporting and information capabilities.
  • Problem-Solving and Research: Research problems and correct errors or bring them to the attention of senior management for further consideration.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Interact with university financial offices to exchange information and resolve problems.
  • Financial Reporting Support: Assist in the preparation of periodic financial reports for internal and/or external use.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of financial operation experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel (pivot tables and formulas) and PowerPoint.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong organizational, written/oral communication, and relationship-building skills, prior experience in financial and budget reporting, ability to follow through with assigned projects within established time-frames, and exceptional focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of government and fund accounting, clinical revenue, database, and university financial systems.
