WHAT WILL I DO AS A FINANCIAL ANALYST II?


Conducts comprehensive reviews and executes a variety of financial assignments throughout the fiscal year, including the establishment and upkeep of financial records, categorization of income and expense transactions, recording financial activities, preparing trial balances, and executing year-end adjustments.

Interprets financial regulations and standards, recommending implementation strategies.

Performs cost assessments, revenue evaluations, and procedural studies, and compiles reports on findings.

Compiles, assesses, and reconciles intricate financial statements, final accounting for projects, and reimbursement claims from governmental entities or private contractors.

Evaluates and reconciles complex financial systems for cost reporting and reimbursement claims from governmental agencies.

Prepares balance sheets, revenue statements, fund balance reports, cost accounting documents, revenue and expenditure forecasts, and other specialized financial summaries.

Compiles expenditure and revenue summaries and prepares periodic financial statements for review.

Conducts routine audits of financial records for grant-operated agencies, businesses, charitable organizations, other governmental bodies, or private contractors; drafts audit reports and provides recommendations.

Coordinates audits with internal and external auditors, preparing supporting documentation and offering additional assistance.
Analyzes established cost accounting systems to assess their effectiveness in providing accurate cost estimates. Suggests modifications to enhance reliability.
Acts as a liaison with other departments or governmental entities regarding financial matters.
Participates in the implementation of systems and procedures.
Supervises a small team of accounting technical and clerical staff as needed.
Serves as the department's Internal Control Certification Program (ICCP) coordinator as necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for dedicated individuals who possess:

21 semester or 32 quarter units of accounting in an accredited college or university, including at least two advanced accounting courses.


AND EITHER OF THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS

OPTION I :

One year of entry-level accounting or auditing experience at the level of a junior financial analyst.


OR OPTION II :

Two years of technical accounting experience at the level of a financial technician.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS INFORMATION:
*To receive credit for the required units and coursework, you MUST include a legible copy of official transcripts from the accredited institution at the time of filing or within seven (7) calendar days from application submission.

**Experience at the level of a junior financial analyst is defined as performing a variety of entry-level financial assignments in the preparation, analysis, review, maintenance, reconciliation, and control of financial records and fiscal revenue and expenditures forecasting.
***Experience at the level of a financial technician is defined as under general supervision, supervising and performing paraprofessional accounting work in preparing, processing, reconciling, and maintaining fiscal records requiring substantive knowledge of accounting procedures.

Employees wishing to qualify using experience gained in classifications not at the level of the classification listed above must provide verification of qualifying out-of-class experience by providing official documentation of additional responsibility or out-of-class bonuses with your application at the time of filing or within seven (7) calendar days from application submission.

LICENSE:
