Job Overview: As a Civil Engineer I at KLJ, you will play a vital role in the Oil and Gas Division, contributing to the design, development, and implementation of engineering projects tailored for the oil and gas industry. Your focus will be on assisting clients with site grading design, stormwater management, access road planning, and related activities necessary for the successful planning, permitting, and construction of these projects. You will work collaboratively with a team of engineers and other specialists to ensure that project objectives are achieved efficiently and effectively.

Key Duties:
  • Support the planning and design of oil and gas infrastructure projects, which may include well pads, access roads, and stormwater management systems serving oil and gas operations.
  • Conduct thorough site evaluations and assessments to ascertain project feasibility and requirements.
  • Prepare and review essential technical documentation, including reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address engineering challenges and enhance project outcomes.
  • Utilize CAD software and other engineering tools to produce detailed designs and models.
  • Engage in project meetings and provide stakeholders with updates regarding progress and any challenges encountered.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • EIT certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software and tools, such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of industry regulations and standards pertinent to oil and gas engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant environmental and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying ideas clearly to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Proficient in self-management with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritizing responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Able to work independently under general supervision as well as collaboratively within a team to achieve business objectives.
Preferred Experience:
  • Prior internship or work experience related to site surveying, mapping, civil construction, or site design.
  • Knowledge of the Public Land Survey System and section breakdowns.
Work Environment: This position may require occasional travel to project sites and the ability to work in both office and field settings.

Hours and Travel:

This position requires the individual to work 40 hours per week, with approximately 70% of time spent in the office and 30% in the field.
