Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to assist our survey team in preparing drawings, maps, and plans for civil engineering projects. As a CAD Technician, you will work closely with surveyors, engineers, and clients to ensure the accuracy and quality of deliverables. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and updating the CAD database and standards, as well as providing technical design assistance and creating and modifying CAD drawings, maps, and plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software to assist with basic design details and prepare drawings that require a high degree of precision.
  • Provide entry-level technical design assistance that accounts for the proper illustration, fit form, and function using geometric dimensioning, tolerance, and quantity calculations, while ensuring the construction and maintainability of designs according to design standard specifications.
  • Create and modify CAD drawings, maps, and plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other software.
  • Follow the survey team's procedures and specifications for CAD work.
  • Ensure the compliance of the drawings with the relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Perform quality checks and revisions of the drawings as required.
  • Communicate and coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and clients to resolve any issues or queries.
  • Keep track of the project progress and deadlines.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to the survey team as needed.
  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, structural concepts, blueprints, schematics, data, verbal or written specifications, technical drawings, rough sketches, diagrams, and other matrices to support drafting and design activities.
  • Assist with verifying calculations, design, change orders, interpretation of contract plans and specifications, and escalating any issues or technical problems for appropriate resolution.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
  • Ensure the specification of dimensions, materials, and procedures for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and adhere to professional conduct and KLJ's policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • At least 2 years of experience as a CAD technician in civil engineering or surveying
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other CAD software
  • General awareness of drafting and design support principles, practices, process, methods, and techniques
  • General awareness of relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
  • Familiar with civil engineering and surveying principles and practices
  • Knowledge of the relevant codes, standards, and regulations
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies
  • Ability to work independently under supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week
