Job Overview

Genesis Technical Staffing, Inc. is seeking a skilled Industrial Estimator for a prominent engineering firm.

*Compensation for this role is commensurate with experience.

Key Qualifications
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude with the capability to accurately interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Proficient problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience with estimating software such as MC 2 or WinEst is preferred; familiarity with other software will be considered.
  • Knowledge of tools like Primavera (P6), Bluebeam, Synchro, Excel, and Word is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction disciplines, particularly Mechanical and Structural.
  • 0-5 years of relevant industrial construction experience is essential.
  • Experience with medium-scale projects (valued at $20M+) is required.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred.
  • Field construction experience is a plus.
Core Responsibilities

Willingness to travel as needed for project visits and pre-bid meetings to assess site conditions and scope.

  • Analyze plans and specifications thoroughly.
  • Provide precise take-offs.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team to formulate the estimate and pricing.
  • Develop initial project schedules.
  • Work closely with the Proposal Manager and Project Manager to gather project information and prepare presentations showcasing company capabilities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and manufacturers' representatives.
  • Create conceptual drawings and scopes of work for budget proposals with minimal assistance from engineering, and share with the Estimating Team for cost estimation and proposal development.
  • Assist in building and maintaining a database of equipment vendors and subcontractors.
  • Review preliminary project conditions, equipment needs, and projected costs with the estimating team to finalize project conditions for managerial review.
