Job Overview

B.L. Harbert International is in search of a Cost Estimator to join our International Estimating Department. The position requires occasional travel for international pre-bid site evaluations and project discussions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation
  • Conduct comprehensive quantity take-offs
  • Evaluate vendor and subcontractor bids
  • Develop pricing for various work packages
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Capable of obtaining and maintaining a U.S. Government security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Science, or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in estimating for commercial, light industrial, and U.S. Government construction projects
  • Proficient in performing detailed quantity take-offs for earthwork, site utilities, structural concrete, and architectural components
  • Experience in analyzing vendor and subcontractor proposals and preparing bid comparison documents

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience converting estimates into detailed project budgets
  • Prior experience in pre-construction or field roles on international projects for private or U.S. Government clients
  • Ability to review and assess project-initiated change order proposals for contractual validity and pricing accuracy
  • Experience in drafting technical proposals

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to repetitively use hands for grasping, reaching, and overhead work
  • Capability to stoop, bend, walk, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 25 lbs. of materials
  • Capacity to sit for extended periods with occasional standing
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and perform specialized tasks
  • High level of concentration required in a busy office setting

  • Must be able to function in an office setting
  • Flexibility in work hours is necessary to meet business demands
