Job Title: Vehicle Drivability Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Drivability Engineer to join our Electrified Propulsion Development team at Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) in Chino, CA.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development of drivability and shift quality of Hyundai and Kia vehicles. This includes vehicle testing, drivability calibration, data analysis, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Vehicle Testing: Conduct vehicle updates and instrumentation, execute HATCI test procedures, and participate in vehicle evaluation and ride-and-drive activities.
  • Drivability Calibration: Develop countermeasures and tune control system parameters to effect changes.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize data analysis tools to create plots, determine root causes of drivability issues, and compare against competitive data.
  • Reporting: Write concise reports to document drivability issues, countermeasure effectiveness, and competitive analysis.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar related degree
  • Demonstrated understanding of dynamics, control systems, thermal systems, and powertrain systems
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25% of time, including extended stays in Ann Arbor, Michigan for training and collaboration.
Desirable:
  • Master's degree in mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • 2~5 years of experience in vehicle development especially for drivability or transmission shift quality.
  • ETAS INCA or other CAN calibration tools
  • Vehicle Spy or other CAN decoding experience.
  • MATLAB, Python coding experience for data processing
