Position: Senior Fleet Maintenance Specialist

Reports to: Fleet Manager or Director of Operations

Classification: Non-exempt

Employment Type: Full Time / Year Round

Overview

As a Senior Fleet Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for the upkeep and repair of vehicles, machinery, and small engines at the facility. You will also assist in coordinating external contractors for significant repairs or services. The ideal candidate will possess robust diagnostic abilities across various fleet repair areas. Work may take place in a workshop or in the field, regardless of weather conditions. Daily tasks will vary as situations arise, with a strong focus on preventive maintenance across all fleet services. Additionally, you may assist with snow removal using vehicle-mounted plows, snow blowers, and shovels.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in vehicle maintenance or a related trade.
  • ASE Master Technician certification is preferred but not required.
  • A High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A valid driver's license in good standing is essential.

Core Competencies and Expectations

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in at least three of the following areas: Vehicle Electrical Systems, Hydrostatic System Repair, Heavy Equipment Service, Snow Cat Maintenance, Light Duty Truck Repair, Small Engine Repair.
  • Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other vehicle systems.
  • Knowledge of safe operation of various equipment, machines, and vehicles.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools and other maintenance equipment.
  • Capacity to understand and learn tasks related to operational functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of emergency response protocols.
  • Willingness to collaborate with others, provide mentorship to junior technicians, and foster a positive work atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute positively and productively as part of the Fleet Maintenance team.
  • Assist the manager with task management, work order completion, and team scheduling.
  • Engage with members and guests courteously, addressing their needs and inquiries.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Adhere to all traffic regulations and maintain safe driving speeds.
  • Keep a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow established operating procedures, including pre-trip inspections and vehicle maintenance checks.
  • Conduct thorough pre-work inspections of all equipment before maintenance tasks.
  • Perform comprehensive preventive maintenance on equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and report any issues to the manager.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures regarding punctuality, attendance, and professional appearance.
  • Participate in staff meetings and safety briefings.
  • Assist with snow removal operations using various equipment.
  • Support members, guests, and colleagues in enhancing their experience.

Licenses and Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Frequent exposure to wet, snowy, and cold environments.
  • Ability to work a modified schedule, particularly during snow removal periods.
  • Must meet the physical requirements typical of this position, including frequent lifting of up to 100 lbs, bending, and movement.
  • Regular repetitive motions, along with continuous sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Potential need for protective equipment.
