Responsibilities:

* Confirm coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims
* Analyze coverage and communicate coverage positions
* Conduct, coordinate, and direct investigations into loss facts and extent of damages
* Direct and monitor assignments to experts and outside counsel
* Evaluate information on coverage, cause of loss, and damages to determine the extent of insured's exposure
* Set reserves within authority or make claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to manager
* Negotiate and settle claims either directly or indirectly
* Prepare reports by collecting and summarizing information
* Adhere to Fair Claims Practices regulations and internal Claims Quality Performance Objectives
* Participate in special projects or assist other team members as requested
* Travel to mediations, trials, and conferences as required

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
* JD, advanced degree, or focused technical degree a plus
* Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license
* Successful completion of basic insurance courses or achievement of industry designation (INS, IEA, AIC, ARM, SCLA, CPCU)
* Minimum of 3 years of claims handling experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Successful completion of 2 years as a Claims Representative
* Field Adjuster experience preferred
