Job Summary

The Property Claims Manager is a first-line management position responsible for providing leadership direction to a Claim Team and achieving desired company results. The Claim Team will handle moderate to highly complex claims, and the successful candidate will specialize in property and lead a team of field adjusters within proximity of their location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a collaborative, performance-driven work environment by facilitating and fostering trust, transparency, and inclusion.
  • Lead with influence and expertise, actively contributing to division or department leadership teams, and communicate and support the organization's mission, vision, values, policies, and practices.
  • Support an environment of teaming where adjusters make decisions and close files within and outside of their assigned inventory, foreseeing issues that may require intervention, and developing and sharing innovative and effective solutions for dealing with problems, situations, and conflicts.
  • Comply with Unfair Claims Practices Acts and ensure handling of claims in good faith, adhering to Local and Corporate Guidelines, Company Claim Bulletins, and the Company Code of Ethics, responding to inquiries and handling complaints from individuals or their representatives, insurance departments, Consumer Affairs, and other agencies.
  • Establish, communicate, and implement departmental plans, objectives, and strategies.
  • Participate as a member of the management team.
Requirements
  • Must be located in Virginia, Maryland, or New Jersey.
  • Three or more years of property claims handling experience required.
  • Xactimate proficiency required.
  • Property claims leadership and/or other leadership experience is preferred.
  • Must obtain adjuster's license, if not licensed.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently at a location removed from immediate supervision.
  • Solid knowledge of property casualty insurance/claim industry and regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex losses in situations that require tact, diplomacy, and persuasion under changing conditions.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of office and field claim handling processes.
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of policy language, coverages, and underwriting intent.
  • Demonstrated experience in a claim administrator, specialist, examiner, or role with equivalent exhibited knowledge, skills, and performance.
Licenses
  • Valid driver's license required, plus an acceptable driving record.
  • Obtain state-specific property casualty claims licensing as required.
Travel Requirements
  • Up to 10%.
  • Catastrophe travel up to 75%.
Physical Requirements

Field Positions:

  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like. This position may require employees to visit areas that have a higher hazard than a typical office, such as customer homes, body shops, or other locations.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.

Non-Field Positions:

  • Work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
Working Conditions

Field Positions:

  • Low temperatures.
  • High temperatures.
  • Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
  • Noisy environments.
  • Hazardous conditions.
  • Poor ventilation.
  • Small and/or enclosed spaces.
Location

In this primarily home-based role, you will spend 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working from home and/or in the field overseeing claims adjusters. The candidate will preferably reside in New Jersey, Virginia, or Maryland. On occasion, you may be asked to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events. Internal candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of location and will be considered based upon the needs of the role.
