Swim Lessons Coach

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part-time Swim Lessons Instructor to join our team at PSJA ISD. As a Swim Lessons Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching swim lessons to students of all ages and skill levels.

• Uphold and adhere to safety rules and regulations.
• Prevent accidents by enforcing policies, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of persons using the swimming pool.
• Maintain discipline of swimmers by requesting assistance from the Head Lifeguard and/or Aquatics Director.
• Observe for accidents occurring in the water, on the deck, or on diving equipment.
• Enter the water to rescue persons in trouble, resuscitate swimmers who may need it, administer first aid to the injured, and call for emergency services as needed.
• Report definite or potential hazards and unsafe conditions to the Head Lifeguard and/or Aquatics Manager.
• Maintain an acceptable appearance at all times, with regard to both uniform and personal hygiene.
• Display professionalism, courtesy, and helpfulness to all pool patrons and fellow employees in the performance of duties.
• Stay up-to-date with innovative practices and techniques.
• Be adaptable and flexible in accepting changes in techniques and procedures.
• Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding all district matters.
• Support the goals and objectives of the district and follow district policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including clerical and janitorial work as directed.

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must be mentally and physically fit.
• Must have American Red Cross Swim training (provided by the employer).
• Must be able to become an American Red Cross certified lifeguard or water safety instructor (possibly provided by the employer).
• Must have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Must have prior experience working with children and/or lifeguard experience (preferred).
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED in English.
