Seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Surgeon and Medical Director to lead our Pediatric Trauma Program at VCU Health in Richmond, VA.

We offer a competitive salary range of $350,000 - $600,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

About the Opportunity

This is an open rank, non-tenure track faculty position that requires a strong background in pediatric surgery and trauma management. The successful candidate will serve as the Medical Director of the Pediatric Trauma Program and support the general surgical practice of the division.

The ideal candidate will have teaching responsibilities in all areas of pediatric surgery, establish a successful research program, and participate in departmental and university committees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Pediatric Trauma Program and staff with responsibility for day-to-day operations and coordination with pediatric trauma staff regarding patient care and performance improvement.
  • Establish a successful clinical practice in general pediatric surgery, including shared time between VCU and affiliated community hospitals.
  • Serve on departmental and university committees as necessary.
Requirements
  • Board certification or eligibility in general surgery and pediatric surgery.
  • Completion of an ACGME-approved fellowship in pediatric surgery.
  • Ability to work in a complex, matrixed environment with high emotional intelligence.
  • Commitment to teaching and practice in an academic setting.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
