Position Title: Strength and Conditioning Coach (Graduate Assistant)

Academic Year: UIW Mission

University of the Incarnate Word is a Catholic institution that welcomes to its community persons of diverse backgrounds, in the belief that their respectful interaction advances the discovery of truth, mutual understanding, self-realization, and the common good.

Position Summary: The Strength and Conditioning Coach (Graduate Assistant) is responsible for assisting in the strength and conditioning of student athletes. The Strength and Conditioning Coach (Graduate Assistant) reports to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

This is a student position open to current UIW graduate students.

The start date for this position may be contingent upon reopening of the UIW campus.

Essential Functions:


  2. Responsible for all scheduling, training, testing, organization and administration of teams as assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, this may include educating student-athletes in areas of nutrition and banned substances.
  3. Assist directly with the football program as needed.
  4. Responsible for maintenance of weight room, supplement areas and all equipment.
  5. Work effectively with all Sports Medicine, Sport coaches, Administration and University staff.
  6. Perform any other duties that may be assigned.


Qualifications:


  2. Sincere desire and passion to assist student-athletes in reaching their athletic performance and personal goals.
  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Demonstrate a willingness to enforce weight room, UIW athletic department rules/policies, and NCAA rules at all times.
  5. Demonstrated proficiency in teaching the Olympic Lifts and their variations.
  6. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  7. Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education:


  2. Acceptance into a UIW graduate program


Required Work Experience:


  2. N/A


Preferred Qualifications:


  2. One (1) year working in a collegiate strength & conditioning program.
  3. Prior experience as a collegiate student-athlete.


Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations:


  2. Documented progress toward any or all of the following certifications: S.C.C.C, USAW, C.S.C.S.


Work Hours:


  2. 25 hours per week, varied hours;
  3. Some night & weekend hours will be required at select points of the calendar year


Physical Demands:


  2. Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
