Role Summary:

The certified Athletic Trainer will engage in various responsibilities within the realms of performance enhancement and rehabilitation. This includes conducting physical evaluations, conveying details regarding injuries or health issues, and developing treatment strategies, as well as offering guidance on injury prevention and performance optimization for military personnel.

  • Conduct initial physical evaluations to identify structural issues and the severity of acute injuries. Refer injured personnel according to established protocols.
  • Apply appropriate emergency response techniques for injuries and illnesses.
  • Perform secondary evaluations and implement suitable management strategies for non-critical injuries or health concerns.
  • Develop differential diagnoses based on initial or secondary evaluations.
  • Effectively communicate injury or illness details and treatment plans to patients and relevant personnel.
  • Design and create protective gear and braces to prevent and manage injuries, including utilizing taping techniques within the scope of practice.
  • Provide expert advice on injury prevention and enhance physical conditioning and performance.
  • Participate in regular meetings to assess care provided and identify areas for improvement.
  • Act as a consultant on injury prevention, sports medicine, and rehabilitation matters.
  • Assist in administrative tasks, including supply procurement and budget requests.
  • Collaborate with the community to improve patient care quality.
  • Review equipment, products, and literature to ensure the staff remains updated on care provision.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of data collection strategies.
  • Assist in the collection and reporting of workload data as needed.
  • Support the development and revision of job descriptions and performance standards.
  • Help maintain clinical practice guidelines for consistent care across facilities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial plans.
  • Ensure safe operation of patient care equipment and promote a safe working environment.
  • Complete required annual training as per guidelines.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from an accredited institution (Master's degree preferred).
  • Current NATABOC certification.
  • Certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Sports Performance Coach.
  • At least five years of experience with elite athletes in military or professional sports settings.
  • Current certification in basic CPR, including AED training.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of training environments.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
