The Accounting Clerk will report directly to the Controller, contributing to an organization that prioritizes community welfare and values each team member's efforts.

Homes for the Homeless operates family shelters in New York City, providing more than just temporary housing. Our residences offer access to a variety of onsite programs aimed at empowering families during their stay and beyond. We strive to create a lasting positive impact, ensuring families can thrive long after they transition from our shelters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process monthly reimbursement claims efficiently.
- Maintain an accurate vendor checklist and organize invoices within our accounting software.
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Compile monthly employee fringe benefits reconciliation reports.
- Reconcile monthly credit card transactions.
- Ensure monthly bank statements are reconciled.
- Assist in the petty cash audit for our facilities.
- Maintain monthly rental income schedules.
- Handle weekly deposits and receivable entries.
- Support the Grant Manager with monthly expenditure reports.
- Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Provide assistance to the purchasing team as necessary.
- Participate in quarterly inventory counts as needed.
- Support all audit processes.
- Contribute to ad-hoc projects as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or associate degree with relevant accounting experience.
- Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Experience with Sage Intacct Accounting Software is preferred but not mandatory.
- Proficient in spreadsheet applications.
- Competent in MS Office applications.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
