Position Overview:

In this role, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of cost-effective and impactful capital projects that align with business growth, operational stability, environmental health and safety (EHS), and production quality objectives. Your expertise will be crucial in establishing and analyzing designed experiments within a manufacturing context, while your interpersonal skills will enhance project quality through strategic modifications in processes and designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Operations, Maintenance, EHS, R&D, and IT to identify and prioritize capital project enhancements aimed at addressing operational inefficiencies and advancing manufacturing technology.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with operational teams to stay informed about challenges and opportunities that can inform future capital projects.
  • Lead the development of project deliverables to facilitate early feasibility assessments, including scope definition, hazard analysis, process flow diagrams, and project charters.
  • Ensure the successful execution of projects by creating detailed piping and instrumentation diagrams, component specifications, and automated control descriptions.
  • Leverage your knowledge in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and process control, along with third-party expertise, to support design development and system analysis.
  • Manage project budgets through careful estimate development, vendor coordination, and effective communication with finance and operations stakeholders.
  • Foster strong communication with stakeholders through regular project reviews, goal discussions, and collaboration on business case development.
  • Encourage innovation in capital projects by maintaining relationships with equipment and systems vendors and participating in professional development opportunities.
  • Provide engineering support in manufacturing by diagnosing performance issues and recommending solutions in collaboration with operations and maintenance teams.
  • Coordinate with maintenance to ensure quality and safety standards are upheld during project execution.
  • Enhance productivity by designing and testing new operational procedures.
  • Document process changes and status through comprehensive reporting.
  • Oversee continuous improvement initiatives and data analysis.
  • Track performance metrics to identify improvement areas and monitor project upgrades.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to management effectively.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Contribute to team efforts by completing related tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in AUTOCAD and MS Project, with strong analytical skills for design computations.
  • Ability to navigate projects that require operational commitment and training for successful implementation.
  • Familiarity with safety system design and hazard analysis methods.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of process engineering software and health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution is required. Professional Engineering Licensure is preferred. Candidates should have five to ten years of experience in chemical manufacturing, specifically related to the outlined responsibilities.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel may be necessary for supplier and system integrator meetings.

Working Conditions:

This position involves working in both office and manufacturing environments, with potential exposure to chemicals and physical risks, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.

Physical Requirements:

Moderate physical activity is expected, including the ability to handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds and prolonged periods of standing or walking.

Training Requirements:

Training in safety protocols, equipment operation, and emergency procedures will be provided as necessary.
