Job Description

At Indiana Internal Medicine Consultants, we are seeking a highly skilled Medical Scheduler to join our team. As a Medical Scheduler, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical care setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer and screen incoming calls, routing them appropriately and responding to emergency calls and pager communications.
  • Schedule new patient, follow-up, and same-day appointments, acting as a liaison between patients and our practice.
  • Enter accurate patient demographic information into our practice management system.
  • Confirm appointment details with patients, including date, time, location, and provider.
  • Notify patients of office policies regarding appointments, scheduling, cancellations, and no-shows.
  • Escalate calls to nursing staff, physicians, or patient access managers as needed.
  • Review and navigate accepted insurance, verifying coverage for scheduled patients.
  • Fax patient orders to hospitals, labs, and outside physician offices when requested.
  • Schedule patients from faxed and EPIC referrals for specialty providers.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year of experience in customer service and/or related clinical environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
