Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist

Position Overview:
As a key member of our imaging team, you will deliver exceptional patient imaging services specifically focused on MRI, adhering to physician directives. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure patient safety while providing high-quality imaging results.
You will prepare the MRI suite for patient examinations, manage image processing, maintain inventory levels, and ensure that all equipment is properly serviced and compliant with manufacturer standards.
You will operate imaging devices in accordance with established safety protocols, exercising professional and ethical judgment throughout the diagnostic process.Your role will also involve applying your understanding of developmental principles to cater to the unique needs of patients across various age groups, including geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and pediatrics.

Imaging Services:
You will produce high-quality images by following clinical protocols and positioning patients to optimally showcase the anatomical area of interest, while prioritizing their comfort and capabilities.
You will demonstrate proficiency in cross-sectional imaging techniques using appropriate equipment and develop films in line with established radiographic standards. You will assess images for technical accuracy, ensuring proper identification is recorded. Your expertise will extend to providing radiology services to a diverse patient demographic, offering education on procedures tailored to age-specific needs. You will facilitate patient cooperation and alleviate anxiety by addressing their concerns. It is essential to verify the correct procedure by reviewing physician orders and outpatient prescriptions, and to communicate any discrepancies with the medical team. You will also possess a comprehensive understanding of contrast agents used for organ studies and prepare the necessary contrast media.Patient Care and Service:
You will provide prompt, expert services to patients, physicians, and colleagues in a friendly and professional manner.
You will keep patients and their companions informed about any delays and the measures being taken to address them. Your commitment to patient-centered care will be evident in your daily interactions. You will ensure quality patient care, which includes preparation, scheduling, and educating patients about various procedures as needed. Upholding strict confidentiality for both patients and staff will be paramount.Safety and Compliance:
You will maintain safe radiation levels at all times to minimize exposure for patients, yourself, and others. Adherence to written safety protocols is non-negotiable. You will conduct all necessary equipment checks prior to use and ensure compliance with patient and regulatory standards, suggesting improvements for patient outcomes when appropriate. Your responsibilities will include completing quality assurance and quality control activities related to radiation safety. You will confirm patient identification to prevent repeat studies due to misidentification and monitor patients during procedures, reporting any unusual occurrences or changes in their condition to the appropriate personnel. Assessing allergy status will be part of your duties, and you will be prepared to respond swiftly to contrast reactions as outlined in the policy manual. You may also assist in first aid situations as necessary, including emergency procedures.
Professional Conduct:
You will observe patients during procedures and report any unusual occurrences or changes in their condition to the appropriate personnel.
Arriving on time for your assigned shift, taking breaks appropriately, and completing your shift as scheduled will be expected.
You will maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked imaging room at all times. Identifying training needs among staff and participating in the development of policies and procedures will be part of your role. Effective communication with the lead technologist and management regarding any concerns will be essential. You will collaborate with colleagues to efficiently carry out radiological procedures and perform additional duties as required, including rotating shifts and assignments as necessary.Regulatory Compliance:
You will adhere to all personal protective equipment protocols, universal precautions, medical waste management, infection control, safety standards, and other OSHA regulations.
Technology Utilization:
You will ensure accurate input of patient information into the departmental computer system. Checking in patients for the appropriate radiological procedures will be part of your responsibilities, as will selecting the correct account during check-in and completing patient procedures as directed.
Qualifications:
Experience
A minimum of one (1) year of direct experience with cross-sectional anatomy is required.
Education
A High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is mandatory.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging or Radiologic Technologist Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required.
Certification as a Radiologic Technologist in Washington is also necessary.Basic Life Support certification is required.
Additional Requirements:
Proficiency in performing necessary procedures and examinations.
Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of radiation safety, safety precautions, and infection control practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least one (1) year of MRI experience is preferred.
