Position Overview:

As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist, you will deliver exceptional patient imaging services in alignment with physician directives. Your primary focus will be on ensuring patient safety while producing high-quality diagnostic images. Responsibilities include preparing the MRI suite for patient examinations, processing images, managing inventory levels, and maintaining equipment to meet manufacturer standards. You will operate MRI machinery in accordance with established safety protocols and apply ethical judgment throughout the diagnostic process. Your role will also involve understanding the developmental needs of patients across various age groups, including geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and pediatrics.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Imaging Services: Execute high-quality imaging by adhering to clinical protocols and positioning patients to optimally showcase the area of interest while ensuring their comfort. Demonstrate proficiency in cross-sectional imaging techniques and develop films following proper radiographic standards. Assess images for technical quality and ensure accurate patient identification. Provide education to patients regarding procedures tailored to their age-specific needs, while addressing any concerns to alleviate anxiety. Confirm the accuracy of procedures by reviewing physician orders and outpatient prescriptions, and communicate any discrepancies promptly.
  • Client Relations: Deliver timely and expert services to patients, physicians, and colleagues in a courteous manner. Keep patients and their companions informed of any delays and the measures being taken to resolve them. Foster a patient-centered approach in all interactions, ensuring confidentiality and respect for patient privacy.
  • Safety Protocols: Uphold stringent radiation safety standards to minimize exposure for patients, yourself, and others. Conduct necessary equipment checks prior to use and ensure compliance with patient safety regulations. Engage in quality assurance and control activities, and identify ways to enhance patient outcomes. Confirm patient identification to prevent repeat studies due to errors. Monitor patients during procedures and report any unusual changes in their condition to the appropriate personnel. Be prepared to respond to contrast reactions and assist in first aid as needed.
  • Professional Conduct: Maintain a clean and organized MRI environment, ensuring all supplies are adequately stocked. Participate in the development of policies and procedures and communicate any training needs to management. Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure efficient operation of radiological services. Be flexible with shift rotations and assignments as required.
  • Technology Utilization: Accurately input patient data into the departmental computer system, ensuring proper check-in procedures for radiological examinations.
Qualifications:
Experience
  • At least one (1) year of direct experience with cross-sectional anatomy.
Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (Washington) required at hire.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification required at hire.
Additional Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of imaging procedures and exams.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with radiation safety and infection control practices.
Preferred Experience:
  • One (1) year of MRI experience.
