Summary

The Armed Security Specialist is responsible for providing protective services to ensure the safety and security of personnel and assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and uphold security protocols to mitigate risks and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of individuals, vehicles, buildings, and facilities, as well as packages and parcels.
  • Maintain all necessary licenses and permits required for armed security duties.
  • Be available to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three years of security experience, including at least one year in an armed capacity within the last five years; or
  • Four years of military or National Guard service; or
  • Completion of a state-certified Police Officers Standard Training (POST) course.
  • Possession of a DC Armed Security Officer license.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Successfully pass Federal Protective Services medical and physical evaluations prior to employment.
  • Fluency in English, with the ability to read, comprehend, and write coherent reports in English.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and standard office equipment.
  • Familiarity with various software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook.
