Prevention Specialist I

LifeSkills is a nonprofit corporation passionate about the quality of care and providing a thoughtful approach for improving the lives of families in crisis since 1966. We are seeking a skilled Prevention Specialist I to join our team in the Barren River Region.
Job Summary:
As a Prevention Specialist I, you will provide consultation and technical assistance to substance use prevention coalitions and other organizations on evidence-based strategies and the Strategic Prevention Framework. You will work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure alignment of collaboration efforts with needs assessment driven work plans, CMHC work plans, YE deliverables, and Collaboration deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consultation and technical assistance to substance use prevention coalitions and other organizations on evidence-based strategies and the Strategic Prevention Framework.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure alignment of collaboration efforts with needs assessment driven work plans, CMHC work plans, YE deliverables, and Collaboration deliverables.
- Support the collection of community-level needs assessment data through evaluation activities such as focus groups, interviews, and environmental scans.
- Make self-initiated contact with multiple stakeholders.
- Enter all service data in the Prevention Data System.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a human services field (e.g., Addiction, Behavioral Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, Sociology, Education) is required.
- Two years+ of experience working in a human services field is required.
- Ability to apply for a Certified Prevention Specialist certification within two years of hire is required.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to reliable means of transportation for job-related use is required.
- Regional and statewide travel is required.
- Proven ability to build relationships, trust, and deepen connections with diverse people and groups is required.
- Skilled in the areas of organization, verbal/written communication, facilitation, conflict resolution, presentation preparation, and report development is required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously is required.
- Ability to follow through on assignments with minimal oversight, and using planning and problem-solving abilities is required.
