Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Database Administrator Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to learn and grow in the field of database administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in monitoring database and ERP environments
  • Under general direction of DBAs, assist in optimizing database performance across a wide variety of applications and users
  • Develop documentation that supports the management of the database and ERP environments
  • Under the general direction of DBAs, assist in patching and routine maintenance of database and ERP environments
  • Under the general direction of DBAs, assist in managing user access to ASU's ERP system
  • Perform PC software/driver installs and assist end-user troubleshooting
  • Work on projects that help with efficiencies within the database and ERP environments
  • Learn about providing ongoing database services to the campus customers
  • Learn about best practices in a database environment and how to use ITIL processes that support a database environment, including:
    • Tracking of incidents and requests
    • Changes to the systems
    • How to approach the implementation of new projects
Requirements
  • Must be a currently enrolled student, registered for classes, and in good academic standing
  • Must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher
  • Basic understanding of operating systems
  • Ability to work individually and also with team members
  • Ability to efficiently manage your time in a fast-paced work environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Linux, computer programming, and SQL is a plus
