Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team at Pedernales Electric Cooperative. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, security, and performance of our databases in production and development environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor database performance and resources to provide an optimal level of service
  • Configure systems and perform database refreshes as required to support development, quality assurance, and training environments
  • Design, implement, test, and monitor database backup and recovery procedures
  • Maintain database security by managing user accounts with appropriate access roles and authentication
  • Assess and implement routine database maintenance as needed
  • Implement a method of retaining and reporting on long-term database performance data
  • Function as a primary database resource for PEC projects and implementations/conversions
  • Assist in installation and maintenance of database client software as required
  • Assist in management and implementation of PEC business software as requested
  • Effectively triage database issues to determine if vendor support is needed
  • Provide timely after-hours support as needed
  • Research technology trends in database, storage, and virtualization
  • Maintain the security of confidential information
  • Stay abreast of advances in technology
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Directly related experience may substitute for education
  • 4 years directly related work experience
