Job Title: Maintenance Superintendent

As a key member of the INEOS team, the Maintenance Superintendent plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our manufacturing site. This position requires a strong leader who can provide guidance, coaching, and resources to the Maintenance group to achieve plant and group performance goals.


About the Role

The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Maintenance group, ensuring that all maintenance activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner. This includes developing and implementing a comprehensive inspection and integrity program, managing contractor relationships, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.


Key Accountabilities
  • Accountability 1: Ensure all SHE objectives are met and compliance with governmental laws and policies is maintained.
  • Accountability 2: Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the Maintenance organization.
  • Accountability 3: Deliver reliability and availability targets for the site.
  • Accountability 4: Ensure adequate cost controls are in place to meet financial obligations.
  • Accountability 5: Manage contractor relationships effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with HSSE standards and expectations set through the INEOS Life Saving Rules and 20 Safety Principles.
  • Promote a safety culture through visible leadership and regular safety observations.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive inspection and integrity program.
  • Deliver against front-end maintenance KPIs and suggest interventions for measurable improvements.
  • Ensure the safe, productive, and efficient operation of the plant.
  • Implement and monitor a comprehensive SHE training program.
  • Adhere to the SHE management system established for the site.
  • Ensure alignment and clarity of roles and expectations.
  • Instill ownership and responsibility in the Maintenance organization.
  • Determine developmental needs of direct reports and coordinate training and development.
  • Ensure a performance management process is in place.
  • Ensure compliance with Human Resources policies and legal requirements.
  • Manage the after-hours maintenance on-call system.
  • Ensure compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreement and Grievance procedure.
  • Share and implement best practices learned between assets.
  • Develop and implement a yearly comprehensive reliability/availability strategy.
  • Ensure a measurement system is in place to track reliability/availability.
  • Develop and implement execution plans to deliver maintenance and reliability strategies.
  • Monitor and assure the ten-year inspection plan is implemented.
  • Ensure resources are committed to completing root cause failure analysis.
  • Ensure an appropriate spares management system is in place.
  • Assist in the development of a ten-year maintenance and reliability plan.
  • Develop methodologies for improving Maintenance performance.
  • Review MTBF failure reporting and work with Reliability Engineering to develop improvement plans.
  • Ensure completion of scheduled PM and repair activities.
  • Oversee monitoring and troubleshooting process and equipment.
  • Develop KPIs for the maintenance group.
  • Ensure shared Maintenance resources are effectively managed.
  • Oversee the creation of reusable job plans.
  • Ensure job preparation and planning processes are updated.
  • Develop an annual Maintenance and NMFC budget plan.
  • Monitor performance vs. plan and investigate deviations.
  • Ensure appropriate priorities are established for work.
  • Work with procurement to optimize warehouse stock and materials ordering process.
  • Communicate and champion cost control.
  • Manage embedded contractor relationships.
  • Manage outside support contractors.
  • Develop third-party contracting strategies.
  • Work with procurement to document and provide follow-up on contractor performance.
  • Manage site-approved manufacturers/vendor list.

Required Profile
  • Level of Education & Knowledge: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or chemical engineering.
  • Experience & Technical Skills:
    • PTA manufacturing experience.
    • Experience working with SAP to manage maintenance work.
    • Experience establishing leading and lagging metrics to monitor maintenance performance.
    • Knowledge of Risk Management tools like PHA, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis.
    • Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM).
