Position Overview:

The Heavy Equipment Transport Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient movement of various construction machinery and materials across multiple job sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently load and unload machinery and materials.
  • Ensure loads are secured and comply with weight limits.
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  • Transport counterweights for cranes, as well as water, sand, and gravel.
  • Adhere to safety protocols at all times.
  • Communicate any equipment or material issues with the office, shop, or job site.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the transport vehicle.
  • Acquire necessary permits for transportation.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Carry out basic truck maintenance, including refueling, oil checks, and cleanliness.
  • Notify the Superintendent regarding any major repair needs for the trucks.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Completion of a one-year certificate program from a college or technical school, along with one to two years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in transporting construction machinery and materials is essential.
  • Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety, taking personal responsibility for the well-being of oneself and others.
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Capable of writing basic correspondence.
  • Effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Proficient in basic arithmetic operations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Problem-solving skills to address issues involving multiple concrete variables.
