Job Summary:

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on arena equipment and facility components. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires a strong background in building trades and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on arena equipment and facility components to ensure optimal performance and extend their lifespan.

• Provide mechanical and maintenance support for events and daily activities, including setup and teardown of equipment and facilities.

• Follow the Preventative Maintenance Program and complete Work Requests to ensure that components of the facility and equipment are given the maximum life expectancy.

• Perform mechanical tasks and repairs as needed, including painting, replacing door hardware, and lightbulbs, and basic repairs on tables, chairs, and other arena equipment.

• Follow proper procedures and techniques in the performance of duties to eliminate or reduce to the greatest extent possible any safety hazards.

• Collaborate with other facilities staff to ensure seamless delivery of services and support.

• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of University Safety, State, and OSHA requirements and protocols.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; certificate or associate's degree in a related trades field preferred.

• At least two years of progressive experience in the performance of tasks associated with one or more assigned trades, including two years of contributing-level work in at least one building trade.

• Experience in painting, plastering, plumbing, maintenance, and repair, as well as proficiency in using mechanical and power hand tools.

• Strong organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to develop collaborative relationships.

• Ability to troubleshoot plumbing systems, use tools necessary to prepare work surfaces for paint and other finishes, and measure materials or distances.

• Physical strength sufficient to perform medium-level tasks up to 50 pounds of bulk weight to a level equal to the height of the applicant's waist.
