Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Intensive Supervision Specialist to join our team at California Northern Pretrial Services. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring public safety and promoting positive change in the lives of those we serve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations and assessments of defendants to determine their risk level and develop effective supervision plans.
  • Provide intensive supervision and support to defendants, including regular check-ins, monitoring of compliance with court-ordered conditions, and assistance with accessing community resources.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, court officials, and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to public safety.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of federal law, the criminal justice system, and specialized programs and resources to effectively support defendants and promote positive outcomes.
  • Utilize strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with defendants, their families, and community stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing laws, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and effectiveness in your work.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field such as criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
  • At least three years of specialized experience in probation, pretrial services, parole, corrections, or a related field, including at least one year as a CL-28 pretrial services officer.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with defendants, court officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risk and develop effective supervision plans.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to exercise sound judgment and discretion in high-pressure situations.
Working Conditions

This position requires moderate to arduous physical activity, including prolonged periods of walking and standing, and may involve exposure to hazardous situations. Applicants must be physically capable and able to handle moderate to arduous physical exertion.
