Firefighter/Paramedic Position

We are seeking highly skilled individuals to fill the role of Firefighter/Paramedic with The City of Independence Ohio. As a Firefighter/Paramedic, you will be responsible for a variety of emergency response activities, including fire suppression, emergency medical care, and hazardous materials handling.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide fire suppression and medical care services
  • Conduct fire scene investigations and inspections to identify causes and recommend preventative measures
  • Provide community relations and education services to promote fire safety and prevention
  • Participate in regular training and drills to maintain and improve skills and knowledge
  • Work collaboratively with other emergency responders and city departments to ensure effective response and recovery efforts
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ohio EMT-Paramedic certification
  • Ohio Firefighter I and II certification
  • Valid Ohio driver's license with a good driving record
  • Physical agility test completion within 5 minutes
  • US citizenship
  • Reside within a 15-mile radius of the Fire Station
  • Vision requirements: 20/30 binocular vision
  • Good moral character
  • Pass required screenings
  • Attach a current resume

Shifts will range from 8 to 24 hours, and employees must meet minimum monthly hour requirements and department training. The starting rate of pay is $26.00 per hour with potential for bonus pay based on hours worked.
