We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as an Introductory Biology Teaching Professor at Appalachian State University.

About the Position

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of our progressive introductory biology program, teaching first semester courses for biology majors and non-majors. The teaching load is 12 hours per semester, and the opportunity to develop an upper-level course or course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE) may be possible depending on departmental need and individual expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Teach introductory biology courses to students
  • Update laboratory curricula to reflect best practices in biology education
  • Contribute to program assessment and evaluation
  • Serve on the Introductory Biology Steering Committee
  • Provide undergraduate academic advising

The Department of Biology at Appalachian State University is a community of 44 faculty members who are active in teaching and research.
