Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and ambitious Operations Manager to actively participate with management to develop, analyze, and evaluate the strategic direction of the branch in order to increase profitability, sales, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Branch Manager in providing guidance with daily operations and development of annual business plans.
  • Coordinate the Inside Sales effort, and input into customer pricing matrices to maximize Gross Margin and/or increased sales.
  • Responsible for working with management and operations teams to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient shipping, receiving, and processing of materials.
  • Responsible for working with management teams to maintain an accurate and well-organized inventory and planning and implementing storage layouts of inventory.
  • Directly manage Inside Sales staff and Shop Supervisors, including recruiting, training, and evaluating all operations personnel as well as weekly payroll management.
  • Regularly make suggestions for improvement and work on continuous improvement projects for lean, quality, and safety.
  • Ensure that all safety programs, company policies, procedures, and guidelines are maintained and properly documented.
  • Responsible for developing a comprehensive succession plan for operations personnel.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned and be flexible and adaptable to changes that will occur during the course of employment.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as business, supply chain, engineering, or similar is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar ops manager/branch manager role leading a team within the industrial distribution industry.
  • Experience managing operations and branch activities that include fabrication or assembly of product.
  • Previous sales or leadership in the hose and gasket industry is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operational responsibilities such as P&L, purchasing, inventory planning, shipping, receiving, safety, sales activities, and general personnel activities.
  • Working knowledge of bottom-line business management with the proven ability to make sound business decisions, discuss, and resolve problems.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written English communication skills are required.
  • Verbal Spanish skills are beneficial and a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Products, and ability to learn and effectively use Distribution Software.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • This position requires the ability to move throughout the shop and warehouse periodically, as well as the occasional need to lift items up to 50lbs and/or train or assist with assembly and shipping activities.
