We are seeking an experienced and skilled Meat Department Manager to join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the meat department operations, supervising team members, and ensuring the highest level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service to members, responding to their needs and ensuring the fulfillment of their orders.
- Respond to member calls, answer questions, and recommend meat products.
- Meat Department Operations
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the meat department, including inventory management, ordering, and receiving.
- Supervise and train team members on meat cutting, processing, weighing, wrapping, receiving, and rotating meat products.
- Ensure all products are fresh and meet company quality standards.
- Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and motivate team members to achieve sales and profit goals.
- Hold department meetings to update team members on company policies and procedures.
- Recommend hiring, promotion, and separation of team members in the department.
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, merchandising, and food quality policies and regulations.
- Maintain a safe and positive work environment for team members.
- Performance and Results
- Meet or exceed all budgeted sales and profit goals.
- Monitor and analyze sales data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Requirements
- Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; formal food service vocational education or knowledge as a qualified journeyman meat cutter preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a meat department or related field, with a proven track record of leadership and customer service.
- Skills and Qualifications
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and train team members.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to respond to member needs and concerns.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on meeting sales and profit goals.
- Knowledge of meat cutting, processing, and merchandising principles.
Working Conditions
- Work in a refrigerated and damp environment, with frequent exposure to cleaning agents.
- Ability to lift objects up to 30 pounds, with regular lifting of containers up to 80 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to operate safely power equipment and sharp knives.
Compensation and Benefits
At BJ's Wholesale Club, we offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $60,750.00-$76,250.00, depending on experience and qualifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan and paid time off.
