In this pivotal role, you will assess, scrutinize, and evaluate the operational effectiveness of our hotels to ensure compliance with all company and franchise standards and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruiting, developing, and overseeing a team of general managers.
- Advising managers on hotel operations, including reservation processes, guest service standards, quality assurance, sales and marketing strategies, revenue management, and implementing new policies and procedures as directed by ownership or brand.
- Participating in employee performance evaluations, job transitions, disciplinary actions, counseling sessions, and terminations.
- Thoroughly understanding all staff roles and responsibilities and being prepared to perform any job as necessary.
- Coordinating special programs, events, and incentives aimed at enhancing guest satisfaction.
- Serving as the subject matter expert on all brand standards and hotel property management systems.
- Addressing or assisting with guest-related issues and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
- Engaging in the development of management and hourly staff to provide training and support.
- Operating with minimal oversight and demonstrating creativity in driving brand success.
- Familiarizing oneself with emergency protocols and possessing a working knowledge of hotel reservation and property management systems.
- Comprehending all financial documents and collaborating with the Accounting Department to ensure adherence to established accounting policies.
- Conducting property walkthroughs to verify that preventative maintenance programs are implemented and performing safety inspections.
- This role involves significant travel, requiring the Senior Vice President of Hospitality Operations to frequently visit hotels and provide hands-on support and analysis to optimize hotel performance.
- Ensuring compliance with all brand training and quality assurance inspections, with the expectation that our hotels exceed brand standards.
- Overseeing that all properties manage expenses effectively and adhere to purchasing and labor systems to achieve or surpass profitability targets.
- Being prepared to step in as interim General Manager when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business management, or a related field.
- Experience with Marriott and Hilton brands is essential.
- 3-5 years of prior experience as a Senior Vice President of Hospitality Operations within Marriott/Hilton branded hotels is preferred.
- A high level of professionalism, exceptional organizational and communication skills, strong leadership abilities, and attention to detail are required. Success in this role demands excellent customer service, organizational, and time management skills.
