Position Overview

The Director of Financial Operations is tasked with managing all fiscal and accounting activities for the company's branches in the U.S. and Canada. This position guarantees that financial documentation adheres to GAAP/IFRS standards while ensuring that all financial processes function smoothly and efficiently.

Direct Reports:
  • Finance & Accounting team for the North American division

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Systems & Reporting:
  • Develop and uphold accounting frameworks that yield timely and precise financial information for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supervise the generation of regular financial statements, ensuring alignment with GAAP/IFRS standards.

Financial Operations:
  • Oversee procedures related to payments, cash management, procurement, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Establish and implement internal controls and guidelines for financial transactions and budget formulation.
  • Monitor daily financial and accounting activities within the organization.

Insurance & Compliance:
  • Administer insurance policies and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Guarantee that the finance department meets all governmental requirements.

Vendor & Credit Management:
  • Engage with creditors and vendors regarding payment timelines, outstanding credits, and other finance-related inquiries.
  • Oversee invoicing procedures and track overdue accounts receivable.
  • Monitor all financial outflows and inflows, including payroll, purchase orders, invoices, and statements.

Tax & Audit:
  • Oversee tax strategy throughout the fiscal year and file annual corporate tax submissions.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for year-end audits as required.

Strategic Financial Planning:
  • Advise leadership on both short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
  • Provide financial insights focusing on capital investments, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
  • Participate in policy formulation as a member of the executive team.

Team Leadership:
  • Guide the finance department, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of staff, along with making personnel recommendations.
  • Delegate tasks, assess performance, and offer guidance on procedural and technical matters.
  • Evaluate work outcomes and present performance metrics to management.

Additional Duties:
  • Manage permissions for banking accounts, including signatory authority for both U.S. and Canadian operations.
  • Oversee software related to insurance, retirement plans, and corporate accounts.
  • Access IT systems necessary to fulfill assigned responsibilities.
  • Perform other related tasks as necessary or assigned.

Criteria for Success:
  • Adherence to corporate standards and guidelines.
  • Continuous enhancement of financial processes.

Travel Requirements:
  • Up to 10%

Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline (required); Master's Degree (preferred)
  • Experience: 7+ years in finance/accounting; 5+ years in leadership roles
  • Sector Experience: Experience in the renewable energy sector (preferred)
