Job Overview:
The Orange County Clerk of Courts is seeking a dedicated individual to fulfill the role of Deputy Clerk. This position entails a variety of clerical and administrative responsibilities essential for the smooth operation of court functions. The selected candidate will manage court records, process payments, and provide assistance to both internal and external clients.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Deputy Clerk, you will be expected to:
- Assist clients via phone, email, or in-person, offering general information and directing inquiries to the appropriate departments;
- Perform clerical tasks such as posting, faxing, filing, and timestamping documents;
- Handle cashier duties, including the receipt and accounting of various payment forms;
- Maintain and update court files, ensuring confidentiality and integrity;
- Administer required oaths and verify the accuracy of processed work;
- Participate in cross-training to enhance skills and support the work unit;
- Conduct routine data entry to keep information current;
- Engage in special projects and research as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A High School Diploma or GED;
- At least one year of experience in customer service or clerical roles, preferably in a legal environment.
Licenses and Certifications:
Upon hire, candidates must obtain a Florida Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:
- Experience in a municipal setting;
- Relevant experience in a legal context;
- Certification in paralegal studies;
- An Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, or a related field.
Technical Skills:
Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in:
- Using personal computers and software applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook;
- Understanding courthouse procedures and legal terminology.
Working Conditions:
This position is primarily office-based and does not involve disagreeable working conditions.
Physical Requirements:
Constant activities include sitting, speaking, and typing, while frequent activities involve standing and walking.
