Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) operates under the guidance of the Executive Director/Director/Clinical Coordinator, delivering nursing care tailored to the age-specific needs of patients. Through collaborative team nursing and engagement with a multidisciplinary team, the RN assesses, plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates patient care strategies. The RN ensures the quality, appropriateness, timeliness, and effectiveness of care provided, utilizing the Person- and Family-Centered Care Model to address family needs and preferences, integrating family caregivers as essential partners in care.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments, documenting and analyzing patient medical histories, symptoms, and conditions. Monitor and report any changes in patients' conditions, performing re-assessments as required.
  • Administer medications, infusion therapies, and treatments following bar code scanning and evidence-based safety protocols.
  • Lead and coordinate care: Initiate and plan daily care in collaboration with the team, patient, and family. Work with multidisciplinary team members to fulfill patients' educational and discharge planning needs, adjusting treatment plans based on patient responses.
  • Effectively coordinate, delegate, and supervise the responsibilities of other healthcare personnel, including Licensed Practical Nurses, Nursing Aides, and Patient Care Sitters.
  • Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to implement direct patient care and treatments, ensuring appropriate interventions are executed.
  • Assess the effectiveness of interventions in relation to patient responses and expected outcomes, documenting and communicating actions to maintain continuity of care.
  • Engage in effective communication with co-workers, physicians, patients, families, and other healthcare team members. Facilitate active participation in bedside handoff reports, utilizing SBAR format for all communication regarding patient status changes.
  • Document care in a clear, concise, and legible manner, adhering to accepted standards. Ensure nursing care is organized, timely, safe, and cost-effective.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of patient education, instructing patients and families on health education, disease prevention, and individualized health improvement programs to empower informed health decisions.
  • Participate in Quality Monitoring/Performance Improvement initiatives, incorporating Evidence-Based practices into daily care routines.

Qualifications:
Education:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited RN education program.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
  • State of Florida RN license.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • NIH certification required.
  • ACLS or PALS or NRP certification preferred.
