Job Summary

Milwaukee Area Technical College is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Building Services Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of custodial and general maintenance duties to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of our district buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general custodial duties, including restroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping, floor scrubbing and waxing, vacuuming, cleaning stairways, halls, classrooms, and other areas.
  • Participate in overall grounds maintenance, including landscaping, mulching, tree trimming, and maintaining all indoor and outdoor trash and recycling receptacles.
  • Operate equipment to clean and renovate floor surfaces, replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes, and assist with unloading, loading, delivery, and/or moving of furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Drive utility vehicles to complete duties, operate lawnmowers to cut grass, and use mechanical hand tools to trim shrubbery and weed garden areas.
  • Assist in the maintenance and minor repair of doors, windows, outside equipment, lights, faucets, drains, traps, filters, shades, desks, chairs, and other needed equipment.
  • Stock and maintain janitorial supplies, attend in-service training, workshops, and other educational activities as required or assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and two (2) years of experience in performing general custodial duties and minor building maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., carry, and push up to 20 lbs. and ability pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and a ladder and maintain balance.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, hear, and speak.
  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: 50% of time spent sitting, 25% of time standing, and 25% of time walking.
Supplemental Information

This position is a 1.0 FTE or 40 hours per work week. This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position with an expected end date of June 30, 2025. Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
