Job Summary

The City of Milwaukee is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Control Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing building control systems, ensuring optimal comfort levels and energy efficiency for our facilities' occupants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building-related systems, including HVAC, security, and fire-life safety systems.
  • Oversee the installation and optimization of control systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Provide preventive maintenance for the Milwaukee Public Library system, including the Central Library and twelve branch libraries.
  • Procure and manage service contracts for vendors, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of services.
  • Supervise the commissioning of systems by vendors and other City employees, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Four years of experience maintaining and repairing HVAC systems for large business buildings.
  • Two years of experience managing computer control and programming software, troubleshooting electronic systems using schematics, ladder logic, and graphic programming language.
  • Valid Driver's license and good driving record at time of appointment and throughout appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Section 608 Technician Certification, also known as CFC/EPA certification.
Working Conditions

The Facilities Control Specialist must be willing and able to work weekends, holidays, different shifts, hours beyond the work schedule, and emergency call-ins. The position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of material or equipment and more weight with assistance. The Specialist must also be able to work from ladders and scaffolding, and in confined crawl spaces and at considerable heights.
