JOB SUMMARY:


A Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides comprehensive and personalized support to patients/residents under the guidance of a licensed nurse.

A PCA assists patients/residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, toileting, and exercising. This position also entails facilitating the safe transfer of residents to and from various activities.

A PCA aids the nursing staff with various physical and complex tasks, including medical responsibilities like monitoring vital signs and reporting on patient behavior and well-being.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Offers physical assistance for patients/residents' daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and transferring to/from bed.


  • Assists patients with their daily medications and supplements.


  • Turns and repositions patients who are bedridden.


  • Ensures that residents/patients adhere to their dietary restrictions.


  • Measures and records food and liquid intake.


  • Examines patients for any open wounds, bruises, or unusual symptoms.


  • Observes and communicates changes in patient/resident behavior and mood.


  • Collects necessary medical supplies.


  • Maintains cleanliness of rooms and bed linens.


  • Records vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate under the supervision of a licensed nurse.


  • Responds to patient calls and needs.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:


  • High School Diploma or GED.


  • State Certified Nursing Assistant License/Certification.
