Senior Technical Project Manager

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Project Manager to join our team at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). As a key member of our AI Division, you will play a critical role in managing mission partner research projects and internal efforts, contributing to research projects, and driving project management best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk assessment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure consistent measurement of project success and implement project management best practices.
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to turn research results into prototype operational capabilities for government customers and stakeholders.
  • Establish and revise project priorities as appropriate to achieve project objectives.
  • Allocate resources based on project size and needs.
  • Engage with customers and stakeholders to provide updates and ensure projects are on track.
  • Support soliciting and managing customer feedback to ensure all efforts are successfully meeting customer expectations and objectives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience working in a federally funded research and development center or similar organization; OR Master's degree and 8 years of experience; OR PhD and 5 years of experience.
  • Candidates will be subject to a background check and must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Flexible to travel to other SEI offices in Pittsburgh and Washington, DC, sponsor sites, conferences, and offsite meetings on occasion.
  • Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States.
