Job Summary

As a Payroll Supervisor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, you will play a critical role in the day-to-day management of the payroll team. Your primary responsibilities will include processing, settlement, and fulfillment of payroll, as well as customer-facing interaction to resolve and/or triage customer-initiated inquiries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret business objectives and prepare operational practices/work programs to assess workload needs.
  • Assist in creating annual team objectives and define standards and reusable approaches within the payroll operational framework.
  • Escalate potential service issues to the Payroll Manager and implement quality control measures.
  • Supervise payroll staff, fill in for the manager as needed, and prepare work schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Assist in monitoring workload and evaluate direct reports, and may review the evaluations/development plans of others.
  • Ensure team members acquire necessary skills and performance attributes, in line with business and personal development needs.
  • Train team members on new or enhanced operation procedures and policies.
  • Provide guidance and share knowledge with all levels of staff relating to existing, enhanced, and new payroll operation procedures and policies.
  • Coordinate the approval and release of manual off-cycle check payments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 5 years of payroll-related experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is preferred.
