Position Overview

The Automotive Body Repair Specialist is responsible for executing restoration tasks on various body components of vehicles, including trucks and buses. This role encompasses the installation of glass, painting, and a range of other restoration duties essential for the upkeep and enhancement of fleet vehicles.

Safety Considerations

This position is classified as safety-sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

General Responsibilities

Job descriptions are designed to outline a general list of responsibilities associated with this role. They do not encompass every task performed by employees in this classification.

Minimum Qualifications

Education directly related to the minimum requirements may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • High school diploma or GED, accompanied by a two (2) year technical certificate or training in automotive repair.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in vehicle restoration.

Additional Requirements
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months of hire.
  • Acquisition of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B within six (6) months of hire.
  • Certification in AC recovery and CNG fuel within six (6) months of hire.

Preferred Knowledge
  • Techniques and principles of vehicle body repair.
  • Methods of vehicle painting.
  • Upholstery replacement practices.
  • Plastic and metal welding procedures.
  • Familiarity with body restoration tools and equipment, including hydraulic jacks and body fillers.

Preferred Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform various restoration and repair tasks on vehicle bodies.
  • Competence in glass installation.
  • Skills in vehicle painting and interior refurbishment.
  • Proficiency in operating tools and equipment used in vehicle restoration.
  • Capability to work independently without supervision.
  • Understanding and following both oral and written instructions.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues.
