Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Centralized Sterile Processing Supervisor to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a key member of our sterile processing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the preparation and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision
    • Supervise and lead a team of sterile processing technicians to ensure efficient and effective operation of the department.
    • Provide guidance and training to staff members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Quality and Safety
    • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety in the preparation and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
  • Inventory and Supply Chain Management
    • Manage the inventory of medical instruments and equipment to ensure that supplies are adequate and that inventory levels are optimized.
    • Develop and implement strategies to reduce waste and improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with other departments and teams to ensure seamless operation of the hospital.
    • Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote quality and safety.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
    • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in sterile processing or a related field, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Certifications and Training
    • Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification preferred.
    • Completion of a sterile processing training program or equivalent experience.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
    • Knowledge of quality control procedures and regulatory requirements.
