About the Position

VHB is seeking a highly skilled Senior Transportation Engineer/Planner to join our Transportation Planning & Operations group in Watertown and Boston, MA offices. As a key member of our team, you will work on a variety of public, private, and institutional projects, developing mobility solutions that consider all users and integrate Complete Street concepts within urban and suburban communities.

Responsibilities
  • Work with a team of multi-disciplinary professionals to develop transportation solutions that prioritize user safety and accessibility.
  • Lead technical tasks for transportation engineering and planning elements of projects, collaborating with mid-level and junior staff.
  • Conduct multi-modal transportation analyses, focusing on complex urban settings, municipal centers, and institutional campuses.
  • Prepare transportation impact, corridor, and intersection improvement studies, as well as research and reports.
  • Represent VHB at meetings with clients, agencies, and stakeholders to discuss project needs and issues.
  • Review project documents for technical accuracy, schedule adherence, and budget compliance.
Requirements
  • BS in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or related field; MS preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional transportation engineering and/or planning experience; 8+ years preferred.
  • EIT/PE, PTOE, and/or AICP certifications strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and industry-standard software (e.g., CAD, GIS, traffic simulation).
