SUMMARY

Haas Automation is in search of a skilled individual for the role of Senior Buyer at our machine tools headquarters. The Buyer 3 will play a pivotal role within the Procurement Engineering department, collaborating closely with senior leadership to evaluate, develop, and implement sourcing strategies aimed at achieving and surpassing business objectives related to cost, quality, service, and delivery.

In this capacity, you will spearhead numerous sourcing initiatives with suppliers worldwide. Operating under the engineering department's guidance, you will assist product managers with procurement for both new product development and existing offerings. This role places you at the heart of the Global Strategic Sourcing organization, engaging with counterparts globally.

Key Responsibilities:

The Buyer 3 is an experienced supply chain professional tasked with representing the organization in the sourcing, strategic selection, and management of vendors, ensuring the procurement of high-quality products within agreed timelines and terms with minimal supervision.

Essential duties include:

  1. Utilizing independent judgment to procure tooling that meets demand while considering economic order quantities, including price, delivery costs, demand levels, timing, market trends, and potential design changes.
  2. Aligning product deliveries to optimize inventory levels while fulfilling production and service requirements.
  3. Conducting market research to identify and evaluate vendors/suppliers to meet business needs.
  4. Assessing vendor capabilities through factory audits and performance evaluations to drive improvements.
  5. Managing the qualification and implementation of products from new suppliers in collaboration with internal engineering, quality, and production teams.
  6. Negotiating cost reductions and optimal terms using market data and technical insights to maximize benefits for Haas.
  7. Performing should-cost analyses of products, including component and raw material cost evaluations.
  8. Monitoring supplier performance and providing feedback through scorecards, ensuring resolution of quality and delivery issues.
  9. Reviewing key purchasing drivers and identifying necessary adjustments to meet current business needs.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of specifications and blueprint interpretation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with suppliers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Minimal travel may be required.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or Engineering from an accredited institution, along with 5+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Proficiency in reading and interpreting business documents, technical procedures, and regulations in English. Capable of writing routine reports and business correspondence.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and interpret data effectively.

Work Environment:
