Facility Overview
The Santa Cruz County Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) is a locked acute psychiatric inpatient program designed for adults diagnosed with serious mental illness (SMI) who are facing a mental health crisis and require intensive care and support. This facility serves adults who may be admitted voluntarily or involuntarily, with a typical length of stay of up to hours.

Available Shifts:
Short Hour Day Shift: PM - PM; Days vary as needed
Short Hour Night Shift: PM - AM; Days vary as needed

Compensation:
The expected starting wage range is $ - $ per hour, with geographic differentials applied to pay ranges based on the location of the role. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

Position Summary
The Recovery Specialist II is responsible for delivering care that addresses the physical and psychological needs of the individuals served. This role involves providing both direct and indirect services in accordance with personalized service plans and Medicaid standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Uphold the mission, purpose, values, and beliefs of Telecare in all interactions with stakeholders.
• Ensure safe, effective, and efficient delivery of direct care in line with established policies and standards.
• Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with individuals served, acting as a role model by fostering a hopeful and positive environment while assisting with mental health challenges.
• Participate in community meetings and group activities.
• Monitor and document client behavior and daily living activities, noting responses to interventions and significant changes in behavior.
• Facilitate admissions and discharges, ensuring all related documentation is completed.
• Collect specimens as required and obtain vital signs and weights for assigned clients.
• Assist individuals with personal hygiene and mealtime support as needed.
• Conduct client monitoring, including rounds and supervision during seclusion and restraint.
• Support client outings, which may involve driving.
• Adhere to body substance precautions consistently.
• Be prepared to manage situations involving aggressive behavior and complete crisis prevention training as required.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent, with two years of experience in a psychiatric mental health setting, or a BA/BS with one year of relevant experience.
• Understanding of basic nursing skills and mental health conditions.
• Certification as a CNA or equivalent is acceptable.
• Minimum age requirement of years.
• CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certification required upon employment or within days of starting, with ongoing maintenance of certification.
• Successful completion of a post-offer physical examination, tuberculosis testing, and background checks is mandatory.

Skills
• Familiarity with psychiatric rehabilitation techniques.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Proficient in problem-solving techniques.
• Capability to assess client needs through interviews.

Physical Demands
The physical demands outlined here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. The employee may occasionally need to sit, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, twist, push, pull, and lift items weighing up to pounds, as well as frequently walk, stand, twist, reach, and perform simple and power grasping. The position requires manual dexterity and exposure to uneven walking surfaces, as well as potential hazardous exposure.
