Job Title: Seasonal Safety Associate

Job Summary:

Newfields is seeking a Seasonal Safety Associate to join our team. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our guests and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with the public and museum staff to provide exceptional experiences to all guests
  • Assist guests with general inquiries and rules
  • Represent Newfields in a professional and customer service-oriented manner
  • Patrol and monitor the Fairbanks Park, address any unsafe behaviors or interactions, report properly and art damages, communicate park rules to guests
  • Perform routine checks of art installations and the Visitors Pavilion
  • During Harvest Nights and Winterlights Festivals, address any unsafe behaviors or interactions, report property and art damages
  • Post and rove Lilly House, observing guests and art to deter any interaction or damage to art
  • Interact and maintain fire pits and warming stations during our Winterlights and Festival experience
  • Work independently with the ability to exercise good judgement in carrying out standard policies and procedures for the security and safety of our guests and property
  • Position requires prolonged periods of standing and walking outside. Approximately 95% of time is spent standing or moving around inside and outside on grounds in the gardens. Must be able to stand and remain alert for extended periods
  • Report all incidents, accidents, or medical emergencies as required. Respond to emergencies, such as medical and to alarms, and implement appropriate emergency responses to fire, safety, and access procedures by following security procedures established for these emergency responses

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent and the ability to complete the required security training for the position
  • Proficiency in use of computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word/Outlook)
  • Excellent customer service attitude and related experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondences, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the museum
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers and decimals. Must be able to complete job duties using military time

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the position. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
