Job Title: Early Childhood Teacher Aid

BronxWorks is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Teacher Aid to join our team at the Willow Avenue Family Residence. As a key member of our early childhood development center, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 3-5 years.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in maintaining accurate records of each child's progress and development, ensuring compliance with Head Start Standards.
  • Support the Lead Teacher in implementing performance standards, policies, and procedures, as well as regulations and guidelines, in the daily operation of the early childhood development center.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to plan and implement daily activities based on principles of child development and the program's curriculum.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in reviewing each child's progress and developing written plans to promote their growth and development, based on assessments of skills, interests, and needs.
  • Maintain a well-organized, safe, and attractive classroom environment that fosters the growth and development of children.
  • Develop positive relationships with each child, promoting self-esteem and self-discipline.
  • Support the inclusion of children with disabilities and special needs, in accordance with IEPs and education field trips.
  • Participate in staff meetings, center activities, and staff development, ensuring a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Assist the Education Director and teacher in implementing parent involvement activities, promoting a strong partnership between families and the center.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent credentials.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with CDA or 15 credit hours in Early Childhood Education.
  • Teacher Assistant Certification preferred.
  • One year of prior teaching experience in an early childhood education setting, with bilingual English and Spanish language skills preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required for home visits and/or fieldwork.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required for home visits and/or fieldwork.
