Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the classroom environment, ensuring the health and safety of all children present.
- Engage in all program activities, including direct interaction with children, families, and staff, while adhering to compliance requirements from various agencies.
Specific Duties:
A. Child Interaction
- Participate in daily care routines such as feeding and diapering.
- Incorporate therapy recommendations into daily activities.
- Utilize developmentally appropriate practices in line with NAYEC standards.
- Implement the High/Scope curriculum effectively.
- Develop and execute the Family Support Plan.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate each child's needs and maintain accurate records.
B. Family Engagement
- Act as a resource for families in developing the Family Support Plan.
- Maintain regular communication with families about their children's progress.
- Participate in parent education and support events.
- Foster positive relationships with families consistently.
C. Staff Collaboration
- Supervise paraprofessionals and model effective practices.
- Work collaboratively with co-teachers and support staff.
- Implement recommendations from therapists regarding best practices.
D. Compliance with Agencies
- Adhere to health and safety standards as outlined by regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain all necessary documentation for funding sources.
E. Professional Development
- Complete initial orientation and ongoing training.
- Integrate new training insights into classroom practices.
F. Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in fundraising and community events.
- Present a positive image of The Arc within the community.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform physical tasks such as bending and lifting.
- Maintain alertness to ensure the safety of all children.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Exceptional Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
- State Certification as a Professional Educator preferred.
- Infant CPR and First Aid certification required.
Salary: Based on experience and qualifications.
