Position Overview

About The Arc of South Florida:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the classroom environment, ensuring the health and safety of all children present.
  • Engage actively in all program aspects, including direct interaction with children, families, and staff, while adhering to compliance requirements from various agencies.

Specific Duties:

A. Child Interaction

  1. Assist in all care aspects, including feeding and positioning.
  2. Integrate therapy recommendations into daily routines.
  3. Utilize developmentally appropriate practices.
  4. Implement educational curricula effectively.
  5. Develop and execute the Family Support Plan.
  6. Conduct assessments to evaluate each child's needs and maintain accurate records.

B. Family Engagement

  1. Act as a resource for families in developing the Family Support Plan.
  2. Maintain regular communication with families regarding their children's progress.
  3. Participate in parent education and support initiatives.
  4. Foster positive relationships with families consistently.

C. Staff Collaboration

  1. Supervise paraprofessionals and model effective practices.
  2. Collaborate with co-teachers and support staff.
  3. Implement recommendations from therapists for best practices.

D. Compliance with Agencies

  1. Adhere to health and safety standards as outlined by regulatory guidelines.
  2. Maintain all necessary documentation for funding sources.

E. Professional Development

  1. Complete initial orientation and ongoing training.
  2. Incorporate new training into classroom practices.

F. Policies and Procedures

  1. Follow all agency policies and quality assurance standards.
  2. Maintain professionalism in all interactions.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to perform physical tasks such as bending and lifting.
  2. Maintain alertness to ensure the safety of all children.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
  • State Certification preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.

Compensation: Salary based on experience and qualifications.
