Role Overview:

The Environmental Manager serves as a key strategic partner, collaborating with production teams to enhance sustainable environmental performance across multiple facilities. This role involves the execution of internal environmental policies and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations at the federal, state, and local levels. The individual in this position is expected to exemplify safety standards and foster a culture of high performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the application of environmental policies and procedures to guarantee regulatory compliance at designated facilities.
  • Facilitate environmental audits and ensure effective follow-up on identified issues.
  • Assess operational practices and recommend strategies to minimize waste and pollution.
  • Act as an internal advisor on environmental compliance and assist in securing necessary permits.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies for effective communication and negotiation.
  • Ensure comprehensive environmental monitoring and documentation at all assigned locations.
  • Stay informed about current environmental regulations and changes at all levels.
  • Interact with community stakeholders regarding environmental impacts and operational transparency.
  • Build and maintain relationships with site and area operations managers to ensure ongoing support and dialogue.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mining Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience in environmental compliance within the building materials sector is preferred.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to conduct thorough research.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to engage with senior business and community leaders.
  • Excellent analytical skills and sound judgment; capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with experience in team-based solution development.
  • Effective time management skills, capable of handling multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
